Building Human Capital: Outcomes from After-School Programs

WHAT: The release of new data in a report to the community on the After School Education and Safety program at Rio School District in Oxnard and delivered by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme. Findings show dramatic improved academic achievement, participation and motivation, a higher school attendance rate and improved behavior at school among students who participate in the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme (BGCOP) after school programs.
WHO: Researcher and author of the report Professor Jamshid Damooei, Ph.D., and Chair of the Economics, Finance and Accounting, and Director of the Center for Leadership and Values at California Lutheran University.
Jeff Henley, Chairman of the Board of American multinational computer technology corporation, Oracle and member of the National Board of Governors of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
Sherrie Hardy, Founder of Hardy Brain Camp, which is part of the BGCOP After School Program. She holds a master’s in marital and family therapy, and a masters in Interactive Metronome Certification (MIMC).
