College Bound coordinator, Kara Brown, changing the lives of teens

As the College Bound coordinator for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme, Kara Brown is helping kids graduate from high school.

“There seems to be a lack of understanding by the students in relation to what they need to do to reach high school graduation and move on to college, and this program allows us to bridge that gap through our workshops and mentoring,” said Brown of Ventura.

Brown’s role, which started in January 2010, allows her “to target the students who traditionally may be at risk of falling through the cracks and motivate and mentor them through the process of reaching graduation,” she said.
