LONG BEACH RESIDENT WINS BIG IN SECOND EARLY BIRD DRAWING

Posted in Uncategorized by BGCOP Staff on November 3, 2011

OXNARD, Calif.— William Rowell of Long Beach won the second place prize of $2,500 in the second early bird drawing on Oct. 28 for the Boys & Girls Clubs Million Dollar Raffle. All proceeds will help the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme deliver programs to more than 7,500 youth.

“I’m ecstatic; I didn’t expect to win,” said Rowell. “I gave because it’s a good cause. It feels good, especially in these times. Other winners might go out and buy stuff, but – it might sound boring ¬– my winnings will probably go towards my property tax bill.”

Seven prizes were drawn with a total of $15,000 given away. A total of 18,000 tickets will be sold and more than 205 prizes raffled off.

The first place prize of $10,000 was awarded to Michael and Irene Doran of Santa Maria. Third through seventh place winners each received $500. All seven early bird winners are still entered to win the grand prize of $1 million.
The final early bird drawing will be Nov. 30.
Adults who purchase more than one ticket are also entered in a special multi-ticket drawing on Dec. 30 to win a 2012 Chevrolet Corvette (or $30,000 cash), a Harley-Davidson motorcycle or the trip of a lifetime to Paris, France.
Million Dollar Raffle tickets are $150. To view the complete raffle rules and prize list or to purchase tickets, visit http://www.bgcop.org/winamil. Tickets can also be purchased by calling toll-free 1-855-WIN-A-MIL (1-855-946-2645) or faxing a completed entry form to 1-877-757-3857.
By involving parents, volunteers, educators and the business community, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme helps youth reach their full potential through a positive environment, lifelong learning and programs dedicated to the arts, education, character and leadership development, health and recreation. Programs are based on physical, emotional, cultural and social needs, and are designed to expand participants’ areas of interest.
