OXNARD, Calif.—A Santa Maria couple won top prize of $10,000 in the second early bird drawing on Oct. 28 for the Boys & Girls Clubs Million Dollar Raffle. Michael and Irene Doran purchased the winning raffle ticket for $150 to support the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme. When the Doran’s lived in Santa Barbara, they participated in the Club’s annual golf tournaments.

“We never win anything, so this was a big surprise. We’re pleased to support the Boys & Girls Club; we have a long-vested interest in helping them,” said Michael Doran. “This is a God-sent gift. We can really use it,” added Irene Doran, whose husband is unemployed.

Seven prizes were drawn with a total of $15,000 given away. Only 18,000 tickets will be sold and more than 205 prizes raffled off. All proceeds will help the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme deliver programs to more than 7,500 youth.

The second place prize of $2,500 was awarded to William Rowell of Long Beach. Third through seventh place winners each received $500. All seven early bird winners are still entered to win the grand prize of $1 million.
The final early bird drawing will be Nov. 30.
Adults who purchase more than one ticket are also entered in a special multi-ticket drawing on Dec. 30 to win a 2012 Chevrolet Corvette (or $30,000 cash), a Harley-Davidson motorcycle or the trip of a lifetime to Paris, France.
