Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme wins CarMax Contest

CarMax awarded the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme $3,000 for being the winner of an online voting contest. In celebration of CarMax’s newest store in Oxnard, the company held an online Road Rally competition asking people to vote for their favorite charity on the retailer’s Facebook page.

23rd Annual Kids Auction Honors Kearneys, Benefits Oxnard, Port Hueneme Boys & Girls Clubs

OXNARD, Calif.— Ventura County philanthropists Bill and Elise Kearney will be honored at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme’s  23rd Annual Donald K. Facciano KidsAuction 5:30 – 10 p.m., Nov. 10 at the Residence Inn by Marriott Hotel, 2101 W. Vineyard Ave., Oxnard. Also known as the Black and White Gala, the event is the organization’s largest fundraiser. All proceeds help fund programs at the 18 Boys & Girls Clubs sites within Oxnard and Port Hueneme, which serve more than 9,000 youth. Last year, more than 350 attendees helped the club raise $250,000, and organizers aim to raise more this year.

 

The evening will include a gourmet dinner, cocktails and wine, along with silent and live auctions. The live auction is conducted by entertaining auctioneer Jim Jungers. Auction items include vacations to Puerto Vallarta, Paris, Mammoth Lakes, Ecuador and Taos, as well as a Nascar VIP suite experience and a Mac iPad.

 

 The Kearneys are being recognized for their philanthropy and support of the Club and organizations throughout Ventura County. “Bill is a leader who embodies philanthropy. He and his wife really have a passion for helping others. The Kearneys have shared their passion for children with the Club and have worked closely with us for several years. Their support is greatly appreciated,” said Tim Blaylock, chief professional officer of the Club.

 

Alexander GMC is the presenting sponsor of this year’s auction. Other major sponsors include Haas Automation, Ventura County Deputy Sheriffs’ Association, Southern California Gas Company, First California Bank, Southern California Edison, Rabobank and Diversified Minerals Inc.

 The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme exists to inspire and enable all young people to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.
