Posted in Uncategorized by BGCOP Staff on February 13, 2013

Oxnard High School student Paloma Guzman’s Blissful Cake Pops wowed judges at the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship Business Competition. Paloma’s delicious dessert treat took home first place at the Dec. 13 event.

When creating the unique and personalized cake pops, Paloma prioritized customer service. “With Blissful Cake Pops, everything is baked to order from scratch to guarantee freshness,” said Paloma. “Every cake pop is hand-decorated, wrapped and tied with a ribbon to match your event.”

When Paloma started attending NFTE workshops in October, she was a shy, quiet student who was embarrassed to talk in front of others. Over the course of two months, she refined her presentation skills and did an exceptional job during her presentation in the competition, noted NFTE advisor Evelina Ochoa.

Paloma is now eligible to compete in the next round of NFTE competitions, which will be held in March in Los Angeles.

Taking second place in the competition was Frontier High School student, Rachelle Blanco. Her business, Rachelle’s Colorful Nail Design, strives to provide quality nail painting services at an affordable price.

Rio Mesa High School student, Fidelia Mendoza, started Fidelia’s Candy Palace and Channel Islands High School student, Jennifer Nuñez, created Balloon Deco. Both tied for third place in the competition.
