Diversified Minerals Inc. (DMI), a locally owned concrete company, has proudly displayed a giant BGCOP logo with the tagline “The Positive Place for Kids” on one of its ready mix concrete pouring trucks for the past couple of years. The eye-catching logo-truck is part of a philanthropic program DMI owner Jim Price created to help the Club, which receives a portion of the revenue from each job where the truck is used. BGCOP has received nearly $10,000 from the logo-truck program to date.
“We wanted to do something different, something that would sustain itself while promoting a worthy cause,” Price said of the idea for the program. “We wanted to keep it local, too. My company is like a big family and we all believe in buying local to support our community.”
Price also is committed to promoting philanthropy to his fellow local business owners. “The BGCOP truck is requested by name,” he said. “People like having the truck out on their properties. It tells the community that they too support giving back to their community.”
Based on the success of the BGCOP ready mix truck, DMI is considering adding a second BGCOP-logo truck.
“It’s partnerships like these that truly demonstrate how a community can work together,” said Kelly Ventimiglia, BGCOP’s director of major gifts. “This is one of many examples of opportunities for businesses and nonprofits to connect and make a difference.”
