Parris’s Great Future.

Everyone recognized Parris’s natural leadership skills, humility and compassion. However, Parris struggled with school. Our staff and peers at the Club reached out to help Parris build on his abilities and to understand that he could be successful at school. It worked.

Parris credits the Club with helping shape him into a well-rounded individual. While here, he participated in Keystone Club, College Bound and Money Matters programs and excelled in basketball, baseball and flag football. Today, Parris is a junior at a local university with plans to teach elementary school and give back to his community. He calls the Club his “home away from home.”

During this graduation season, I think of Parris and all our Club kids who made it and will be receiving diplomas. I feel incredible joy and pride that the Club has helped each one of them reach their goals. The Club made a difference in their young lives. The difference starts when they walk through our doors, whether it’s as a kindergartener or high schooler.

Your support of the Great Futures Campaign helps us provide the many Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme programs and services that needy families rely upon every day to keep their children safe, thriving and in school. With your help we can ensure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and graduate high school in our Clubs across the Oxnard Plain!

Studies show that 3 out of every 10 local young people won’t graduate on time. Low graduation rates contribute to increases in unemployment, poor health, crime and drug use.

We are making a bold promise to you: We are partners with local school districts to help kids stay in school. Additionally, every child who comes to our club and commits to participate in our activities two hours a day, three days a week, will not only graduate high school, but will have a clear path for a successful future.

And we mean every child.

Most of our Club kids do make this commitment, which is why our graduation rate for the 9,000 kids we serve is 96 percent. But we have not done this alone. Our kids succeed because our community invests in them. We need your help to keep this promise to every one of our 9,000 kids and to extend our programs to reach even more children.

We invite you to become a Boys & Girls Club investor because we cannot do it alone.

Please join us by making a donation today. Thank you for your consideration.
