Educational partnership: Yes, you can

Teens who need an alternative to a traditional classroom environment are getting a second chance. THE CLUB Teen Center has partnered with Vista Real Charter School to provide local teens high school diplomas through independent study and personalized study programs. Housed in the teen center, Vista Real tailors coursework to students’ specific ability, pace, interests and goals.

“This partnership provides students a unique opportunity to further their education while engaging in a wide variety of positive activities the Boys and Girls Club is known for,” said Corrine Manley, principal of Vista Real. “For parents and students alike, the combination of services offered through this partnership provides an excellent learning and social platform, designed to enrich and engage our local youth in helping them choose positive pathways now and in the future.”

Vista Real’s high school diploma program, one-on-one teacher mentoring and tutoring are offered at no cost to eligible students between the ages of 14-19. The charter school also offers year-round enrollment. Students can earn their diploma while also enjoying flexible scheduling, high quality teachers and standards-based curriculum. Vista Real’s independent study program has helped thousands of students reach their credit recovery goals.

“Vista Real is a great opportunity for students to succeed without the distractions of a conventional school. This partnership will provide students another chance to earn their diploma while also increasing their odds of getting a job, or entering higher education” said Tim Blaylock, BGCOP chief professional officer.
