5th Annual TeenNick HALO Awards - Backstage And AudienceJoanna Garcia of the Club never imagined she’d be at the Hollywood Palladium or on national television representing the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. But there she was last month, along with 29 others from BGCOP at the Teen Nick HALO awards.

A total of 100 teens representing the Boys & Girls Clubs of America were chosen to attend the annual awards ceremony put on by HALO, an organization that stands for Helping and Leading Others that recognizes teens who are committed to encouraging good behavior and citizenship among our nation’s youth.

“When we arrived at the Hollywood Palladium, I couldn’t believe my eyes,” Joanna writes in her article on BGCA’s “I never imagined myself at a place like this, let alone getting the opportunity to represent BGAmber Holmes HALO awardsCA on national television. The venue was beautiful inside. Everything — the neon colors, the high-energy music playing and the teens from all over Southern California — was so awesome to be part of.”

Another BGCOP member, Amber Holmes, was sent by BGCA’s to the Orange Carpet, where interviewed award honorees and many celebrities as they arrived at the show.
