Partnership Provides Shoes that fit

150 Club members will soon be wearing a brand new pair of shoes. Club staff will take 20 of its neediest children to purchase shoes this week, getting them sized for properly fitted shoes. Another 130 Club members will receive merchandise vouchers to Payless ShoeSource; 10 vouchers for each its 13 school sites. The initiative is made possible through Payless Gives™ Shoes 4 Kids, an annual giving program from Payless ShoeSource.

Payless Gives™ Shoes 4 Kids helps families who struggle to provide their children with basic essentials on a daily basis. This is the sixth year of the program. Since 2008, the program has distributed more than $1.5 million in merchandise certificates for new shoes to children throughout the U.S.

“Although studies show that properly fitting shoes are important for children’s health and development, a striking number of children don’t own a pair of shoes that fit,” said Tim Blaylock, chief professional officer of the Club. “Through this partnership, Payless and BGCOP hope to alleviate this problem in our community.”
