BGCOP celebrates National Boys & Girls Club Week,
Opens doors to community members

WHEN: March 24-28
Activities happen throughout the week (see schedule below)

WHERE: Martin V. Smith Youth Center Teen Center
1900 W. 5th Street, Oxnard 126 E. 7th Street, Oxnard

WHO: Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme invite the community to join them in celebrating National Boys & Girls Club Week.

WHAT: During the weeklong event, hundreds of Club members will take part in a wide range of activities; everyone is welcome to stop by for a visit.

National Boys & Girls Clubs Week Schedule at BGCOP — March 24 – 28

Martin V. Smith Clubhouse Activities:
Monday – Wear Camouflage or Green Clothing
Obstacle Course & Tug-a-War

Tuesday – Wear Yellow or Black
Spelling Bee

Wednesday – Wear Blue
Sports Jersey Day – Kids vs. Staff Volleyball & Beach Ball Toss

Thursday – Wear White
Build a Robot

Friday
Awards Ceremony/Digital Arts Festival

Teen Center Activities:
Monday – Wear Red Day
3-on-3 tournament in the Gym
Ping Pong tournament in Games room
Video Showcase in Tech room
Monochromatic reds in Art room

Tuesday- Spirit day
Dodge ball tournament in Gym
Pool tournament in Games room
Video games tournament in Tech room
Sculpting the “BGC hands” in the Art room

Wednesday – Hat Day
Handball Tournament in Gym
Air Hockey tournament in Games room
BGC logo drawings in the Art room
Digital collage on the history of the Club in Tech room

Thursday- Twin day
American eagle tournament in the gym
Patio painting for the Arts
Chess, Scrabble games in games room
Boxing showcase

Friday- Service day
Trip to a local park to clean up
Patio painting
Jump rope competition

MORE INFO: The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme exists to inspire and enable all young people to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens. With three full-service clubs, 13 school program sites and one housing site, the organization is one of the largest of its kind in California, serving more than 9,000 members annually. The group is also the first Boys & Girls Club of its kind to open a site inside a Juvenile Justice Center in the state of California. Program areas offered to youth include character and leadership development, education and career development, health and life skills, the arts, technology and sports, fitness and recreation.
