Thank you to everyone who came out last Saturday, Sept. 20th for our 9th Annual Day for Kids event held at the Martin V. Smith Clubhouse.
We had more than 2,500 people attend the day-long festivities. The Club had games, prizes, face painting, jolly jumpers, a rock wall, a petting zoo, Gamez on Wheelz and pony rides, along with great food and more for everyone to enjoy. Plus, this year, the Stars of Championship Wrestling from Hollywood performed live showcasing their top talent. The Club also gave away several free memberships.
“It’s so important to spend time with our kids. Children thrive when they have a caring adult in their lives, said Erin Antrim, BGCOP Chief Executive Officer. “With this annual event we hope to encourage adults and youth to spend more time together and build a connection that will last a lifetime.”
Day for Kids was created by the Boys & Girls Clubs of America in 2005 to strengthen relationships between positive adults and kids by educating them on the importance of spending meaningful time together. It also engages the community, local businesses and service agencies as they host booths and provide resources for youth and their families. “Day for Kids” encourages positive interaction with kids and their families through fun, play, mentoring and enrichment activities.
This event would not be possible without the generous sponsorship of Kaiser Permanente, Cole and Clark, Oxnard Children’s dental group and Wells Fargo.
